Obituary for Beverly Soden

Beverly  Soden
Beverly Jean Soden, 83, of Ankeny, formerly of Wisner, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16th, 2017. Beverly was born on January 29, 1934, to Lloyd and Lola Mahnke. She graduated from Grand Meadow Consolidated School. She continued her education at Wayne State Teachers College graduating with a degree in Family and Consumer Science. Her first and only teaching job was at Wisner Pilger Schools in Wisner, Nebraska, where she taught for 43 years. She was united in marriage to Russell Soden in 1957.
Beverly is survived by brothers Roger (Helen) Mahnke of Altoona, Danny (Teresa) Mahnke of Kansas City, Gregory (Jan) Mahnke of Sioux City, sister Judy (Robert) Franzen of Ankeny, and sister-in-law Kathy Mahnke of Weslaco, Texas, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell, and brother, Gary.
Beverly loved life and made everything she was involved in fun and exciting. She received many teaching and community awards throughout her career. One of her greatest accomplishments was her involvement in the Wisner FHA Chapter. Beverly was an avid seamstress, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting, and spending time tending to her flower beds and garden. She was a gourmet cook and enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. She also enjoyed vacationing every summer in Minnesota with family.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from noon to 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Christ in Wisner, NE. Private family graveside services will be held at the Wisner, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Wisner-Pilger Foundation Scholarship Fund.
