Mass of Christian Burial for Josephine Kampschnieder age 91 of Dodge, NE will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, rural Dodge, NE. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. There will be rosaries recited at 3:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the church. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge is in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Kampschnieder passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Parkview Home in Dodge, NE.

Josephine Clara Kampschnieder was born on January 21, 1925 at rural Dodge, NE to George and Frances (Ortmeier) Franzluebbers. She was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean. The family moved to a farm near Monterey, where she attended St. Boniface School and was confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

On September 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Rudolph “Rudy” Kampschnieder at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean. The couple resided on a farm east of Howells, NE. In 2004, Josephine moved into to Dodge and 2012 became a resident of St. Joseph’s Retirement Community in West Point.

She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, its Mother’s Sodality, and for many years she sang with three of her sisters at area nursing homes, calling themselves the Merry Makers. Josephine enjoyed playing her button accordion and harmonicas.

Survivors include-son Gerald and wife Shirley Kampschnieder of Fremont, NE and family-Michelle (Adam) Griger of Fremont and children-Abigail, Molly, Nathaniel, Zachary, Samuel, Sophie, Alexander, Gabriel and Elijah; daughter MaryAnn and husband Ken Kelley of Hutchinson, KS and family-Beth (Julian) Dandini of Platte City, MO and family-Frankie, Mariah, Elizabeth and Mikayla, Melissa (Joel) Blair of Andover, KS and son Brody; son Paul Kampschnieder of Howells, NE and family-Allen (Jenna) Kampschnieder of Howells and children Hayden and Emery, Rick (Stacy) Kampschnieder of Howells, Matthew Kampschnieder of Norfolk and fiancée Amanda Engelhart, Heather Kampschnieder of Lincoln, and Haley Kampschnieder of Lincoln; daughter JoAnn and husband David Ferris of LaVista, NE and son Kenny (Sara) Ferris of Omaha and son Hunter; Irvin Kampschnieder (deceased) and his children-Chelsea Kampschnieder of Columbus and fiancée Phillip Parker, and Logan Kampschnieder of Dodge; sisters- Caroline Kampschnieder of Dodge, Catherine Franzluebbers of Idaho, Ann Marie Steffensmeier of Howells, Sr. M. Georgiana Franzluebbers and Sr. M. Frances Franzluebbers both of Colorado Springs, CO, and Rose Marie Gentrup of West Point.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers-Ferdinand in infancy, Herman, Bernard, and John.
