Memorial services for Elsworth Voelker age 76 of Stanton, NE will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, NE. Interment with military honors will be in the Stanton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner.
Elsworth passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at the Stanton Health Center.
Elsworth George Voelker was born on May 31, 1939 in Stanton Co., NE to George and Elsie (Dupsky) Voelker. He attended Stanton Co. Rural School District #19 and graduated from Stanton High School in 1957. He worked with his father on the family farm prior to entering the United States Army. He served from 1960-1963 in France before being honorably discharged.
On June 30, 1964, he was united in marriage to Katherine Suhrkamp at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Elsworth worked at Vulcraft in Norfolk for several years. He later worked for Stanton County maintaining roads until he retired after 35 years of service.
Elsworth was a lifemember of Stanton American Legion Post #88. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He also supported multiple charities. Elsworth was very proud of his family.
