Obituary for Phyllis D. Chace

Funeral services for Phyllis D. Chace age 82 of Norfolk, NE will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, NE and will continue on Wednesday from noon until service time at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2013 in Mesa, AZ.

Phyllis was born to Harry and J. Eunice (Perry) Perkins on the farm near Stanton, NE on June 13, 1930. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1948.

Phyllis married Jack A. Chace on August 15, 1948 at the Congregational Church, Stanton, NE. They attended the University of Nebraska, briefly, before settling on the Chace family farm northwest of Pilger. Born to that union, were 3 children: James R. Chace, Cynthia S. Goeller and Jacqueline E. Chace.

Phyllis was a 4-H leader, Pilger Community Club leader, a member of the Pilger United Methodist Church, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Order of Eastern Star, and the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce. In 1983 she moved to Norfolk, NE where she was a real estate broker for over 30 years. She died January 3, 2013 in Mesa, AZ of complication due to leukemia.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Don Perkins, a sister, Evelyn Schellpeper, an infant grandson, Garth Chace Wittstruck, a son, James R. Chace, and her former husband, Jack A. Chace. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Goeller (David) of Wisner, NE and Jac E. Chace (Dr. John Wittstruck) of Mesa, AZ, eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, a sister, Inez Barth of Stanton, NE, and a longtime friend, Dave Potts of Mesa, AZ.

Memorials will be given to the Pilger Senior Center.
