Obituary for Robert "Bob" Prinz

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Robert "Bob" Prinz age 82 of West Point, NE will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE with Fr. James Weeder as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Nielsen Community Center. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 5:00 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements. The family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Mary's Catholic Church and the GA/CC Endowment Funds. The funeral will be live-streamed at www.facebook.com/minnickfuneralserviceinc .

Bob passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 at CHI-Lakeside Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Robert Lee Prinz was born on June 9, 1940 In West Point, NE to Victor and Margaret (Schueth) Prinz. He attended Guardian Angels Catholic School graduating in 1958. After High School he enlisted in the Army Reserves and served for eight years while also joining his father on the family farm east of West Point.

On February 20, 1960, he was united in marriage to Rose Ann Peatrowsky at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, Ne. The couple lived and worked the farm where Bob was born and raised until moving to town in 2005. During that time, Bob tended both crops and livestock and was a seed dealer for Funk’s Seeds. He was also very active in the Cuming County 4-H Livestock Program, holding many offices and leading the 4-H group, Elkhorn Valley Livestock. Even though in town, Bob remained active in the cattle industry with Diamond 6 Feedlot.

He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus (4th Degree). Bob is known to many as the KC Basketball Leader, introducing girls basketball to the program in the 1980’s, whom athletes later would become part of the Central Catholic High School State winning teams. He and Rose Ann were avid followers and boosters of all Central Catholic/Guardian Angels Central Catholic activities, especially sports, speech and drama. Bob enjoyed bowling for 60+ years in the KC Bowling League on the Prinz Grain and Feed team. He was an avid golfer and member of the Indian Trails Country Club, both enjoying the game and holding many offices. Bob loved his cards, coffee gatherings, and the other Bluejay’s… Creighton University!

He and Rose Ann loved to drive and travel the country, always dropping in to visit a rancher or cattle feeder. They also never missed supporting the Cuming County Fair.

Family and friends meant the world to Bob and he dedicated his life to both his immediate and extended family, being know as the onery ‘Uncle Bob’.

Preceded in death by parents Victor & Margaret, step-mother Kathryn Hughes Prinz, wife Rose Ann Prinz, brothers and their wives, Leonard & Millie, Tom & Beata, Dick & Kitty and Kenneth, sisters Rose Ann Edwards and Cathy (Joe Whittam), brother-in-law Bob Agress, Nephews, Dave Prinz and Glen Prinz, Nieces, Linda Placek, Cheryl Placek, Susie McGill, Debbie Campbell. Grandchildren Gabriel and Faith Neiman
