Obituary for Francis A. Maresh

Mass of Christian Burial for Francis A. Maresh age 88 of Dodge, NE will be on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with Fr. Matthew Gutowski as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors at the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a public Wake Service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service all at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family.

Francis passed away on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the Parkview Home in Dodge, NE.

Francis A. Maresh was born in Dodge, NE on April 1, 1934 to Joseph E. and Gertrude (Stalp) Maresh. He attended St. Wenceslaus School and graduated from Dodge High School in 1952. Francis served in the United States Army as a cook during the Occupation of Germany from 1953 to 1955. Upon returning home farming north of Dodge, NE.

Francis was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and called Bingo for many years. He was a member of the Dodge American Legion Post #122 and VFW Post #8597, where he served as Adjutant for many years. He was a Nebraska Cornhusker Football fan attended many games and several bowl games with his friend Virginia. Francis loved farming and even into his 80’s he would be out cutting weeds from his fields.

Brother-Gerald and Ruth Maresh of Dodge, NE
Brother-Ron and Karen Maresh of Dodge, NE
Several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews also survive him.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents-Joseph and Gertrude Maresh, sister-Anita Flynn and husband Maurice, sister-in-law-Else Maresh, nephew-John Maresh, and great nephew-Michael Flynn.
