Obituary for Marilyn H. Ortmeier

Mass of Christian Burial for Marilyn H. Ortmeier age 86 of Dodge, NE will be on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE with Fr. Paul Ortmeier as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service and Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at the church and will continue on Saturday one hour prior to the service. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Marilyn passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at the Parkview Home in Dodge, NE.

Marilyn Helen (Uher) Ortmeier was born on the family farm near Dodge, NE on July 5, 1936 to August and Helen (Bazata) Uher. She attended St. Wenceslaus Grade School and graduated from Dodge High School in 1954. Marilyn received a certificate for Medical Secretary from Commercial Extension School of Commerce and worked in Omaha, NE. She later worked for the Dodge Clinic for about four years and then was employed at Stover Chiropractic Clinic for over 30 years.

On September 5, 1956, she was united in marriage to Jerome Ortmeier at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. The couple lived on a farm north of Dodge, where Marilyn was an active farmwife. They were members of St. Aloysius Catholic Church, where Marilyn was a member of the Guild. In 1999, they moved to Dodge, where they became members of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Marilyn was a member of the Guild and Christian Mother’s. She was a member of the Dodge American Legion Auxiliary.

Marilyn enjoyed baking, cooking, gardening, reading, golfing, bowling, badminton, and playing dominos. She and Jerry enjoyed traveling and wintering in Arizona.

Daughter-LeAnn Ortmeier and fiancé Jim Babcock of Omaha, NE
Sister-Anita and Wes Evers of Omaha, NE
Brother-in-law-Duane Horn of Schuyler, NE
Several nieces and nephews also survive her.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents-August and Helen Uher, sister-Helen Horn, and brother-David and wife Donna Uher.
