Obituary for Ann M. Steffensmeier

Mass of Christian Burial for Ann M. Steffensmeier age 92 of Howells, NE will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Howells, NE with Fr. Stan Schmitt as celebrant. Interment will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church with a Public Vigil Service and Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday after 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Ann passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at St. Joseph's Rehabilitation and Rehab in Norfolk, NE.

Ann Marie (Franzluebbers) Steffensmeier was born on the family farm near Monterey, NE to George and Frances (Ortmeier) Franzluebbers on April 17, 1930. She attended St. Boniface School at Monterey.

On August 20, 1957, she was united in marriage to Wilfred Steffensmeier at St. Boniface Catholic Church-Monterey. The couple farmed near Howells, NE until 1992. They were active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean. After moving into Howells in 1992, they became members of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where Ann was a member of Christian Mother’s. Ann enjoyed singing with the Merry Makers group, which included three of her sisters, entertaining at area nursing homes.

Ann enjoyed baking bread and caramel sticky rolls, playing cards, and doing embroidery. Ann’s family and her faith were very important to her.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents-George and Frances Franzluebbers, husband-Wilfred in 2002, brother-Ferdinand in infancy, Herman, Bernard & John Franzluebbers, and sisters-Josephine Kampschnieder, Caroline Kampschnieder, Catherine Franzluebbers, and Sr. M. Georgiana Franzluebbers.
