Obituary for Theresa Stecher

Mass of Christian Burial for Theresa Stecher age 82 of West Point, NE will be on Monday, January 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE with Father Matt Niggemeyer as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Beed’s Transportation Building. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service & Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, and will continue on Monday one hour prior to the service. The mass will be livestreamed on the Minnick Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/minnickfuneralserviceinc.

Theresa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at her daughter’s home.

Theresa Augustine Stecher was born on June 27, 1940 to Wilbur and Gertrude (Ernesti) Reichlinger north of West Point, NE. At the age of 16, Theresa started working at the Cuming County Court House in the Clerk’s Office. She also worked at Nielsen Oil & Propane, Terra, and Sapp Brothers before retiring. On October 27, 1962, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, Theresa married Louis Gene Stecher. Theresa was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Ladies Guild.

Theresa enjoyed her day trips across the river. She loved to visit, and going to the hospital and having lunch with the cafeteria ladies. She especially enjoyed spending time with family and attending Avery’s activities. Theresa had good neighbors and friends in Evie Howser and Irene & Albert Guenther, who spent precious time with her.

Sister, Joanne Johnson of Moses Lake, WA
And many nieces and nephews.

Proceeded in death by her parents, husband Louis, sisters-Evelyn Stratmann, Mary Schmaderer, Gertrude Kleffner, a brother in infancy, brother Dennis Reichlinger, and niece Sandra Knobbe.
