Obituary for Dale Ruskamp
Mass of Christian Burial for Dale J. Ruskamp age 79 of Omaha, NE will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE with Fr. Matthew Gutowski as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will be in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a public Wake Service at 6:30 p.m., and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service all at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation or to a charity of your choosing in Dale’s name.
Dale passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in Omaha, NE.
Dale was born on June 1, 1943 in Dodge, NE. He was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Adella (Ernesti) Ruskamp; and sister Marla Ruskamp. He is survived by his brother Dave (Reldine) Ruskamp of Sergeant Bluff, IA; sisters Betty (Bernie) Niewohner of Dodge, NE, and Junella (Skip) Kaup of Las Vegas, NV; and beloved partner Sylvia Hevrdeys of Omaha, NE. Dale was also loved by 10 nieces and nephews.
Dale was a 1961 graduate of Dodge High School. He entered the United States Army following graduation and was stationed at Fr. Riley, KS for 3 years. Following his years in the service, Dale returned to the Dodge, NE area and worked in sales for Wimmer’s Meats. Dale began his career in real estate by obtaining his broker license and moving to Omaha working for Geschwender Real Estate Co. and later for N.P. Dodge Real Estate Co. selling residential homes.
Dale had a variety of interests which included learning to fly small planes, owning a 1947 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, going to the Eastern Nebraska Gun Range, playing tennis and softball, watching Husker football games, traveling, and working in his yard. He was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters and a member of Mary Our Queen Catholic Church. He enjoyed being one of twelve men to host an annual “Tom and Jerry” Christmas party. Dale was a hard worker and a good listener. He will be missed by many friends, family, and co-workers.
