Obituary for Mary Ann Beune

Funeral services for Mary Ann Beune age 88 of West Point, NE will be on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Point, NE with Pastor John Gierke officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church basement prior to the interment in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mary Ann passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.

Mary Ann Beune was born on March 6, 1934 to William and Elsie (Kaul) Goetsch in rural Stanton County, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Stanton, NE. Mary Ann attended St. John’s Parochial School and graduated from Stanton High School in 1951.

On August 29, 1954, she was united in marriage to Duane Beune at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stanton, NE. Three children were born to this union, Jeffrey, Kay, and Kent.

Duane and Mary Ann lived and raised their family on the family farm south of Wisner, NE. Mary Ann was an active farm wife. The couple moved into West Point in 1992 and became members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Point, NE.

Mary Ann was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and was active in meals on wheels, LWML, and other church activities. She also made confirmation banners for 12 years. She loved watching birds, making crafts, crocheting, gardening, and growing Iris’ on the farm of which she had over 150 varieties.

7 Grandichildren- Diana (Dan) Koger and Amy (Ben) Heller both of Omaha, NE, Kevin Beune of Schuyler, Mike MacDonald and Tom (Meghan) MacDonald both of Denver, CO, Christy (Nathan) Sieler of Elkhorn, NE and Anna Beune of Pender, NE and fiancée Craig Gutz

Mary Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years-Duane Beune, and son-Jeffrey Beune.
