Obituary for Edward King

Memorial visitation for Edward “Eddie” King age 94 of West Point, NE will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. Interment will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery at a later date. Eddie’s wish was to donate his body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board.

Eddie passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Emerald Nursing and Rehab in Columbus, NE.

Edward Donivan King was born on June 7, 1928 at Creighton, NE to Ivan W. and Margaret F. (Huigens) King. Eddie moved with his family to Beemer at an early age. Eddie attended Beemer Public Schools, graduated from Beemer High School in 1948. He went to trade school to learn how to repair watches.

Eddie lived in LuVerne, MN before moving to West Point, NE. He worked at Randel and Yarger Jewelry, operated the King Time Shop and worked for the Cuming County Assessor’s Office in West Point. He later worked at Smeal Manufacturing in Snyder, NE until retiring.

Eddie was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, was a member of the West Point Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the West Point Eagle’s Club.

He enjoyed watching baseball, helping with fish fries, and attending the Cuming County Fair. He loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Judy Ruiz of Council Bluffs, IA
Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Eddie was preceded in death by his parents-Ivan W. and Margaret King, 7 brothers, and 2 sisters.
