Obituary for Gregg "Cubby" Schlecht

Gregg “Cubby” Schlecht age 66 of West Point, NE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at his home. Private family services will be held at a later date. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family.

Gregg Alan Schlecht was born on November 25, 1955 in West Point, NE to Jerome “Bud” and Agnes (Lueckenhoff) Schlecht. He attended Guardian Angels School and graduated from West Point Central Catholic in 1974.

Cubby began working for his father at Bud’s Tap and Grill and later purchased it, working for 44 years until retiring. On November 24, 2004, he was united in marriage to De Ann Harms in West Point, NE.

Cubby played town team baseball for the West Point Bombers and was an avid fan of all of the Detroit, MI professional teams-Tigers, Red Wings and Lions. He was known to always root for the underdog. He especially loved spending time with his wife, children and grandkids.

Cubby was preceded in death by his parents-Bud and Agnes Schlecht, and brothers- Brian and Jan Schlecht.
