Obituary for Keith Batenhorst

Funeral services for Keith Batenhorst age 71 of West Point, NE will be on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE with Fr. Matt Niggemeyer as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Beemer, NE with a luncheon to follow at the Nielsen Community Center. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE.

Keith passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Omaha, NE.

Keith Bernard Batenhorst was born July 7, 1950 to Edwin and Julia (Neesen) Batenhorst. He attended Guardian Angels School and graduated from West Point Central Catholic in 1968. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 9, 1968 serving during the Vietnam War. On June 10, 1972, he was united in marriage to Diana Schnieders at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, NE. The couple lived in Colorado Springs, CO until Keith was honorably discharged on October 6, 1972.

The couple returned to West Point and later moved to Beemer, where Keith managed Beemer Implement. In 1989, the family returned to West Point. In 1990, Keith started Suppliers, Inc. in West Point and operated until his retirement in 2013. He was a partner in Arnold Motor Supply. Keith had served on the Board of Directors for the Cornbelt Buying Group.

Keith was a member of West Point American Legion Post #70, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4912, and Beemer American Legion Riders Post #159. He had served on Beemer Fire and Rescue and West Point Rescue and served as Rescue Captain in West Point for a number of years.

Keith loved to hunt and fish, and loved spending time on their river ground.

Several nieces and nephews and their families also survive him.

Keith was preceded in death by his parents-Edwin and Julia Batenhorst, his in-law- Herman and Arlis Schneiders, brother-in-law-Dennis Schneiders, nephew-Joshua Batenhorst, and a niece-Julia Brown.
