Obituary for David Schinstock

Mass of Christian Burial for David L. Schinstock age 68 of West Point, NE will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, NE with Fr. Steve Emanuel as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Nielsen Community Center. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Public Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to the service all at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that memorials be directed to the GACC Endowment Fund or the National Pancreatic Cancer Society.

Dave passed away on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at his home.

David Lee Schinstock was born December 26, 1952 in West Point, NE to Wilfred and Amy (Rozendal) Schinstock. He was a 1971 graduate of West Point Central Catholic High School. On October 16, 1971, David married “the love of his life” Colette Sitzmann at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Hinton, IA. David worked side by side with his father, Wilfred, at the Schinstock Hog Market until 1988. He then worked for Tyson Foods until retiring in 2017. David enjoyed traveling, playing shuffleboard, and bowling. He was known for his generosity to others and telling a joke or two.

Survivors include his wife Colette; sons Chad (Rachel) and Cory (Carie) both of West Point; daughter Alicia (Tony) Conlin of Omaha; grandchildren Jenna, Dylan, Cole, Nicholas, and Devon; brothers Richard (Cynthia) of Fremont, Daniel (Kathy) of Lincoln, Randy (Jean) of Redding, CA, and Robert (Patty) of West Point. Many in-laws, nieces, nephews, honorary brother and sister-Ed and Pamela Holtz and his beloved dog CoCo also survive him.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents-Amy and Wilfred Schinstock, parents-in-law-Eldora and Ralph Sitzmann, and grandson-Michael Landholm.
