Obituary for Kenneth Schoch

Private family services for Kenneth O. Schoch age 75 of Bancroft, NE will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bancroft with Pastor Nathan Henschen officiating. Interment with Military Honors will be in the Bancroft Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is assisting the family with arrangements. Masks will be encouraged by all in attendance at the visitation and the funeral. Ken passed away on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.

Kenneth Harry Schoch was born on February 18, 1945 in Pender, NE to Harry and Alice (Engelbart) Schoch. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Bancroft, NE. Kenneth attended rural school and graduated from Pender High School in 1963. He was active in FFA in high school and received his Star Farmer Award in 1963.

Kenneth served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. After being honorably discharged he returned to the family farm. On December 29, 1991, he was united in marriage to Kathryn (Ott) Hoefs at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE.

Kenneth was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, had served as the Sunday school superintendent, was an usher, and served on the Financial Board. He had served on the Cuming County Extension Board from 1979-1984. Kenneth was an active member of Bancroft American Legion Post #191, where he currently was Treasurer, was the Secretary/Treasurer of the Bancroft Rural Fire Board, and was serving of the American Veterans Park Memorial Board.
