Obituary for Gerald (Jerry) Peatrowsky

Mass of Christian Burial for Gerald (Jerry) Peatrowsky age 87 of West Point, NE will be held on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE. Interment with Military Honors will be in the St. Michael’s Cemetery, with a luncheon to follow at the Beemer Ballroom. Visitation will be on Thursday from noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home and will continue at St. Mary’s Church with the family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. There will be a Vigil Service with a Knights of Columbus Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for future designation in Jerry’s name. Masks are encouraged to be worn while attending visitation and services at the church. The service on Friday will be live streamed and can be found at www.facebook.com/minnickfuneralserviceinc .

Jerry passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha, NE.

Gerald Joseph Peatrowsky was born on May 28, 1933 to John and Kathryn (Halbur) Peatrowsky near West Point, NE. He attended Cuming County Rural School District #22 and Guardian Angels High School. Jerry began farming with his father at an early age. He served in the United States Army from January 6, 1954 to December 29, 1955. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to the farm near West Point, NE.

On May 29, 1965, he was united in marriage to Yvonne Recker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE. In 1992, the couple moved into West Point. Jerry continued to farm and later worked at Bomgaars in West Point for a number of years.

Jerry was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, was a 3rd Degree Member of Knights of Columbus Council #2272, and had also served on the board for the Izaac Walton League at West Point. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and Nebraska Huskers. He loved to follow Guardian Angels Central Catholic sporting events and his grandkids in all of their activities. Spending time with family at the cabin was a must.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years-Yvonne (Recker) Peatrowsky; daughter-Sandy and Dan Meyer and sons Garret and Grayson; sons: Tom and Dawn Peatrowsky and children Austin (Skyler), Jordan, and Mitchell; Jim and Jenny Peatrowsky and son Morgan; Mike Peatrowsky and sons-Preston and Parker; Alan and Paula Peatrowsky and daughters-Cassie and Joelle. He is also survived by a brother-Marv and Deb Peatrowsky, and sisters-in-law-Edna Peatrowsky, Nora Peatrowsky, Mary Ann Wuestewald, Charlene Recker, and Merna Recker.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents-John and Kathryn (Halbur) Peatrowsky, parents-in-law- Frank and Antonette Recker, brothers: Bob and Walt Peatrowsky; sister-in-law-Julie Peatrowsky; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law-Leonard and Shirley Recker, Willy and Cathy Wehenkel, Clarence and Betty Recker, Merle and Wilma Recker, Augie Wuestewald, Larry Recker, Dale Recker, and Ron and Sharon Buck; and a son-in-law-Gregg Hunke.
