Darrell D. Oliver age 83 of West Point, NE passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at his home in West Point, NE. Interment will be at a later date in the Black Hills National Cemetery near Sturgis, SD. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is handling the arrangements.

Darrell Dale Oliver was born on September 26, 1937 in La Crosse, WI to Leslie and Constance Oliver. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. Darrell worked for 17 years in the Pennington Co. Sheriffs Department in Rapid City, SD and later as a civilian mechanic at Ellsworth Air Force Base.

Darrell is survived by:
Children-Tina Smith, Terry Hooker, Steven (Kimberly) Oliver, and Michael Oliver; step-daughter-Linda Plett; brother-Duane Oliver; and a sister-Bonnie Clark; 14 Grandchildren and 3 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Larry, sisters-Audrey, Eloda, Wanda, Yvonne, and Donna; wife of 33 years Rose Mary Oliver, wife of 18 years Marlene Oliver; and a step-son-Dale Hurtig.

Darrell would not want a big fuss, a service, or even an obituary. If an obituary was deemed absolutely necessary, he certainly would not have wanted it to be too wordy, too formal, or overdone. He had a stoic appearance and dry sense of humor, but was actually pretty hilarious with his quick wit and classic one liners. Darrell love his family and treasured his friends, never putting himself first. He loved to travel, especially to his favorite state of Alaska.
