Obituary for Tom "Tucker" Denton

Memorial services for Thomas "Tucker" Denton age 72 of West Point, NE will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE with Pastor Priscilla Hukki officiating. Social distanced seating by households will be observed with a maximum capacity of 75 in attendance. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE.

Tucker passed away on Thursday, July 16, 2020 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE.

Thomas Ray Denton was born on March 31, 1948 to Wade and Lola (Shotfeld) Denton in Oakland, NE. He grew up in Oakland and graduated from Oakland High School in 1966. Tom served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from February 20, 1968 until he was honorably discharged on February 19, 1970.

Tom drove truck while living in Oakland and later in Fremont for Wiechman Pig. After moving to West Point, he worked at D&S Tire, and hauled for Lee Landholm, Steffensmeier Trucking, Norfolk Iron and Metal and Valmont until he retired.

On October 19, 2001, he married Sandra Clausen at Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, NE.

Tom enjoyed trips to the casinos, watching football-especially the Huskers and Kansas City Chiefs, fishing, gardening, and taking care of his yard.

Jesse and Cassidi Denton of Eagle, NE and family-Monre, Jaide, and Edisyn

Sisters- Donna and Neal Lesley of Omaha, NE
Patricia Gatewood, Unknown
Sister-in-law- Suzie Denton of Wayne, NE
Brother-in-law- Ron and Charlene Schulzkump of West Point, NE
Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Lola Denton, brothers- Larry and Jerry Denton, and a sister-Sharon Denton.
