Obituary for Lois Wiechman

Funeral services for Lois H. Wiechman age 90 of West Point, NE will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Point, NE with Pastor Robert Schilling officiating. Socially distanced seating by households will be observed with the wearing of masks recommended. Live streaming of the service can be found at www.facebook.com/minnickfuneralserviceinc. Interment will be in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Beemer, NE. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, or to a charity of the donor's choice in Lois' name.

Lois passed away on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Franciscan Healthcare in West Point, NE.

Lois Helen (Hasenkamp) Wiechman was born June 22, 1930 to Walter and Lydia (Loewe) Hasenkamp on a farm in rural Beemer, NE. She was baptized July 6, 1930 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Beemer by Rev. Liemer. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Parochial School through the eighth grade. Lois was confirmed on April 2, 1944 by Rev. T.H. Hilgendorf at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

On October 1, 1950, she was united in marriage to Herman Wiechman, Jr. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, by Rev. Jording. Herman and Lois lived and farmed east of West Point all of their married life. Lois was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, West Point, NE, joining in 1950 by being a member and officer of Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League until present.

Lois enjoyed spending time with family, tending to her flower garden and bird watching. Her special love, the love of her life, was her granddaughter Emily and husband Aaron.

Survivors include her two sons: Don (Marlene) Wiechman of West Point; Leon Wiechman of Lincoln, granddaughter Emily (Aaron) Knust of West Point, one brother Kenneth (Judy) Hasenkamp of Beemer, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, parents Walter and Lydia Hasenkamp, husband Herman Wiechman, Jr. on November 26, 2016, several brother-in-law’s and sister-in-law’s.
