I was sorry to hear of Jean's passing. I was pleased to hear of her very successful endeavors as volleyball coach. Way to go lady! I went to school at Westmar and had the pleasure of knowing her through various teams, and physical education classes we took together. I had not known where Jean went after graduation-- I just know she was a real leader and cared so very much about others. Her excitement about so much-- was infectious. I am sorry and shall pray for the family as well as her volleyball team.

I'm am so saddened today. Jean and I were roommates, teammates and friends at Westmar College. I remember the day she saw the opening at Wisner-Pilger in the newspaper. She was so excited with the teaching and coaching opportunity. She turned it into a career of changing students lives and especially those young women that she coached. Jean always saw the rainbow in the rain, giving us all that smile and laugh when we needed it. We last saw each other many years ago at the University of Nebraska where my Colorado State team was playing against her Huskers in the NCAA Tournament. What a joy to get reconnected! My heart is heavy today. My sympathy goes out to Stan the entire Janssen family. RIP my friend.

Jean Groth was not just the best coach, friend and mentor a young lady could have asked for, she was a truly good person that led us by her example.
