Obituary for William "Bill" Harder
Funeral services for William "Bill" Harder age 82 of Wisner, NE will be held on Monday, March 2, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE with Pastor Robert Mayes officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wisner, NE. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, NE and will continue one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed to Zion-St. John Cemetery Fund, Orphan Grain Train, and Lutheran Hour Ministries.
Bill passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.
William Otto Harder was born on April 23, 1937 on the family farm south of Wisner, NE to Harvey and Evelyn (Brahmer) Harder. He was baptized on May 16, 1937 and later confirmed on March 19, 1951, both at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Bill attended Zion Lutheran School and graduated from Wisner High School in 1955. He began farming with his father.
On December 28, 1958, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Hatterman at the Zion Lutheran Church. Bill ran the maintainer for Bismark Township and continued to farm. The couple moved into Wisner in 1992 and then Bill operated the maintainer for Wisner Township.
Bill was a member of Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, where he held various offices. He enjoyed playing baseball on the Rock Creek Baseball Team and Wisner Town Team, softball, Heftie Vet Clinic bowling team, fishing, hunting, and enjoyed doing woodworking projects, where he would say "show me a picture and I can make it." Bill was an avid reader and loved attending his grandchildren's activities.
