Obituary for Bernice Kulhanek
Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Kulhanek age 82 of Howells, NE will be on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Nepomucene Catholic Church in Howells, NE with Fr. Stanley T. Schmit as celebrant. Interment will be in the St. John's Nepomucene Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at the Howells Community Catholic Social Hall. Visitation will be on Monday at the church from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Christian Mother's Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a public Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge is handling the arrangements.
Bernice passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.
Bernice Barbara Catherine (Eusterbrock) Kulhanek was born on January 26, 1938 on the family farm in Cuming County near West Point, NE to Frank J. and Elizabeth (Timmerman) Eusterbrock. She attended St. Aloysius Catholic School through the 8th grade. Bernice helped area farm families and later worked at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, prior to her marriage.
On August 25, 1959, she was united in marriage to Joseph Kulhanek at St. Aloysius Catholic Church-Aloys, rural West Point, NE. Bernice was an active farm wife on the farm north of Howells, NE. The couple moved into Howells in 1983. From 1980-1993, the owned and operated The Pub in Howells. Bernice liked to remain busy, so she also worked at the Mini Mart and Hegemann Hardware and Electric in Howells.
She was a member of St. John’s Nepomucene Catholic Church, it’s Christian Mother’s, served on the funeral dinner committee for numerous years, and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post #155. Bernice enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, volunteering for Bingo at the Clarkson Nursing Home, and following her grandchildren in all of their activities.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Joseph on July 31, 2007, and brothers- Raymond, Marvin and Clem Eusterbrock.
