Funeral services for Harvey Mandel age 74 of Dodge, NE will be on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE with Fr. Rod Kneifl as celebrant. Interment with Military Honors by Dodge American Legion Post #122 will be in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Wake Service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Thursday one hour prior to the service, both at the church. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge is handling the arrangements.

Harvey passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Harvey John Mandel was born on July 3, 1945 at West Point, NE to Elmer and Adella (Bures) Mandel. He graduated from Dodge High School in 1963. Harvey enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1963 until 1965.
Harvey returned to Dodge and began working at the Wimmer’s-Dodge Meat Plant until it closed in 1984. On September 24, 1966, he was united in marriage to Mary Kroenke at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church-Clyde, rural North Bend, NE. The couple lived in Dodge. Harvey held various sales jobs prior to going to work at the Farmers Garage in Dodge as a salesman until his retirement. After retiring the couple enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.
Harvey was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, was a member of Dodge American Legion Post #122, a former member of the Dodge Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He was also active with the Dodge Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, gardening, reading, and being outside. Harvey loved spending time with his family and friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his parents-Elmer and Adella Mandel, son-Scott Mandel, daughter-Julie Mandel, brothers-Eugene, Roy and Ray Mandel, sister-Marlane Schlautman, and a brother-in-law-Marvin Kucera.
