Obituary for Vernie Sievers

Funeral services for Vernie Sievers age 100 of West Point, NE will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE with Pastor Jared Hartman officiating. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Vernie passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE.

LaVern Ellen Sievers was born on January 2, 1919 near Beemer, NE to William and Anne (Toelle) Blumer. She was baptized on February 2, 1919 and later confirmed on January 1, 1932 at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Beemer, NE. Vernie attended Beemer Public School and graduated from Beemer High School in 1936.

On July 3, 1939, she was united in marriage to Alvin Sievers in Omaha, NE. After their marriage the couple lived in Wisner and Fremont, NE before moving to a farm near Pender, NE in 1959. In 1982, they moved into West Point, NE.

Vernie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point and was active in its Ladies Aid. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, sewing, crocheting, and was an avid reader.

Daughter- Jerri and Dave Fullner of Wisner, NE and family-
Terri and Craig Uden and children- Blair and Jon Caraway and children-Gabrielle, Parker & Meredith; Andrew and Nicollete Uden and children-Asher, Rosie & Oliver
Rick and Cori Fullner and children-Reid, Cole & Cade
Daughter-Judy Hendren of Waterloo, IA and family-
Greg and Linda Hendren and son-Kyle

Vernie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Jim, brothers-Marvin Blumer, Leonard Blumer, sister-Evelyn Gardner, and son-in-law-Lyle Hendren.
