I enjoyed Vernie so much over the years, as well as the rest of her family!! I was a nurse at the West Point Living center for many years and spent a lot of time with Alvin and Jimmy, enjoyed visiting with Vernie and her daughters. Jimmy was a favorite of mine. I feel very honored that I was able to be one of Vernie's Hospice nurses, I truly feel blessed that I was able to be a part of her life in so many different ways. I do have a cute story to tell...I picked Vernie up one afternoon to take her to Bingo at the Living Center. For some reason I had my husbands truck that day. I brought a step stool and was going to help her in, well she grabbed the door and climbed right in with without any problems! She was more limber than I was, she was an amazing lady. My thoughts and prayers are with Judy, Jerri and the rest of the family at this time.
