Obituary for Bea Smith

Memorial services for Bea Smith age 100 of West Point, NE will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., with Fr. Steve Emanuel officiating, at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service.

Bea passed away on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at the Hooper Care Center in Hooper, NE.

Beatrice “Bea” Dora (Younger) Smith was born on September 30, 1918 in Papillion, NE to Frederick and Theresa (Kupf) Younger. She attended school until the age of 10, at which time she began cleaning houses and doing other domestic work to help the family make ends meet during the depression.

She met Clinton Smith while attending the State Fair on a hay bale. On November 17, 1938, she was united in marriage to Clinton in Omaha, NE. They moved to the family farm north of West Point following their marriage. Bea was an active farmwife, raising chickens, helped with milking, and cooking meals.

Bea loved to garden, tend to her flowers, and canning everything that she produced. She belonged to a Ladies Card Club and also the Sunday Vets Club Crew, after Clinton had passed away. Bea loved to dress in stylish clothes and accessorize. Christmas was her favorite holiday, she enjoyed spoiling her family with gifts and making their favorite foods. Bea had an infectious laugh.

Bea was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-Les Smith, Daughter-Sharleen Remmers, granddaughter-Deann Reznicek, son-in-laws-Marvin Reznicek and Terry Remmers, brothers-David Younger and Richard Younger, and her sister-Vera (Younger) Taylor.
