Jim passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at St. Joseph's Hillside Villa in West Point, NE.

James Maurice Troyer was born May 24, 1925 at rural Shickley, NE to A.L. and Emma (Eichelberger) Troyer. He attended rural school near Shickley and attended Shickley High School for two years and finished his last two years of high school at Hesston High School in Hesston, KS, graduating in 1943.

Jim was baptized at Salem Mennonite Church in Shickley, NE and served in CPS (Civilian Public Service) in Hill City, SD and in California.

He was united in marriage to Norma Erb on April 16, 1950 at the Salem Mennonite Church. The couple moved to Milford, NE, where he worked at the Reber Turkey Farm. In 1952, they moved to West Point, NE and Jim worked at the West Point Creamery. He later began farming with his brother, Les, and brother-in-law, Sam Oswald, Jr. In addition to farming, he also worked Friday at the West Point Sale Barn, as the clerk. Jim also clerked for farm sales for Smith, McGill, Robertson and Nelson-Auctioneers. In 1977, Jim and Les expanded their operation to feed more cattle. He also began working in the commodity office for Tom Prinz at Prinz Grain. In 1987, they quit farming and he worked for Bob Plagge at Supersweet Feeds in West Point, managing the custom hog-feeding operation. He retired in 2003. Never one to sit idle, he went back to work as a dispatcher for Bellar Feedlot, until his “official” retirement.

Jim was a member of the Beemer Mennonite Church, where he had served as elder and on various committees. He also served as secretary for Sunset Home in Geneva, NE. Jim loved spending time with his family, being at church, cheering on the Huskers, pony pulling, woodworking, reading, and card playing.
