Obituary for Roxy (Mrs. Layne) Matthes

Roxy (Mrs. Layne) Matthes age 60 of Wisner, NE will be on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Roxy passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Providence Medical Center in Wayne, NE.

Roxy Ranae Matthes was born on September 10, 1958 to Raymond and Lois (Race) Hartman in West Point, NE. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Beemer, NE. In 1976, Roxy graduated from Beemer High School. After high school, she worked in Norfolk, while taking classes at Northeast Technical Community College.

On September 10, 1983, she married, her best friend, Layne Matthes. Layne and Roxy live in Wisner and have three children: Tony, Cole and Kelsy. Throughout her life, Roxy worked at Pressure Water Systems, as a para at the Wisner-Pilger Elementary School and as a librarian for the Pilger Library.

Roxy was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she had taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She enjoyed beautiful flowers and loved cheering on her children during school activities. There was nothing more important than her family, especially her 3 beautiful grandchildren. She was looking forward to meeting her 4th grandchild due to arrive in October.

Daughter-Kelsy and Mike Jelinek of Verdigre, NE and son Boone and one due to arrive in October

Brothers- Randy and Stephanie Hartman of Valley, NE
Rob and Diane Hartman of Beaver Lake, NE
Sister- Shelly and Troy Menghini of Lincoln, NE
Sisters-in-law-Jill Hartman of Sundance, WY
Roxanne Hartman of Fremont, NE
Many nieces and nephews also survive her.

Roxy was preceded in death by her parents-Raymond and Lois Hartman, brothers-Rolly and Rick Hartman, parents-in-law-Donald and Delaine Matthes, and a great niece-Olivia Miles.
