Obituary for Robert "Bob" Sellhorst
Mass of Christian Burial for Robert "Bob" Sellhorst age 76 of Dodge, NE will be on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. Interment with Military Honors will be in the St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Dodge, NE is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Bob passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at his home.
Robert Joseph Sellhorst was born on March 31, 1943 to Theodore and Marie (Yosten) Sellhorst in West Point, NE. Bob attended Sacred Heart Academy-Olean (awarded with distinguished honors) and graduated from Dodge High School in 1960. After high school, he worked for Don Smeal as a welder for the startup manufacturing business. In 1964, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army serving as an Amor Crewman, was honorably discharged in 1965, and served in the Army Reserves for 10 years until 1974.
On October 2, 1965, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Kreikemeier at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. Bob worked for the Dodge Coop before operating the Farmers Union Station with Dan Ortmeier. He later operated Bob’s Tank Service and was a Garst Seed Representative. He and Phyllis also operated “The Station” for two years. In 1983, he began driving school bus for Dodge Public Schools and later for Howells-Dodge Schools
Bob was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, was a member for 43 years of the Dodge Fire Department and was a Charter Member of the Dodge Rescue Department. He was a longtime member of the Dodge Chamber of Commerce. Bob enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing, boating, watching western movies, and spending time with family and going on road trips. On one day he brought home a hunk of metal with four tires and later restored the 1962 Ford Sunliner.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents-Ted and Marie Sellhorst, a brother in infancy, brothers-in-law-Paul Scheppers, Ervin Heimann and George Snell, sister-in-law: Betty Kreikemeier (Baumert), brother-in-law Dan Legband (Phyllis' sister's husband), and Rose Kreikemeier (Wortman).
