Obituary for Dorothy R. Schutte

Funeral services for Dorothy R. Schutte, age 88 of rural Beemer, NE will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE with Pastor Robert Mayes officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Minnick Funeral Home and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed in Dorothy's name to: Concordia University in Seward, NE, Zion St. John Lutheran Church, or the Orphan Grain Train in Norfolk, NE.

Dorothy passed away on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the Wisner Care Center.

Dorothy Rose (Ristow) Schutte was born on September 13, 1930 to Albert and Rose (Reikofski) Ristow at rural Plainview, NE. She was baptized on November 2, 1930 and later confirmed on December 5, 1943 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster, NE.

Dorothy worked as a church secretary in Norfolk and later in Kansas City, MO. It was in Kansas City, when she developed a love for teaching. She attended Concordia College in Seward, NE and obtained her teaching certificate. She taught for two years at Zion Lutheran Parochial School, south of Wisner and for a short period of time at St. Paul’s Lutheran School in West Point, NE.

On June 13, 1965, she was united in marriage to Donald Schutte at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Foster, NE. The couple made their home on a farm southwest of Beemer, NE.

Dorothy was an active member of Zion St. John Lutheran Church, where she taught Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and belonged to the Ladies Aid. She was also very active with Lutherans for Life, and was a member of the Concordia University Guild.

Granddaughter-Veronica Leona Gaffney of Lincoln, NE
Sister-in-law-Betty Ristow of Plainview, NE
Brothers-in-law- Wesley Schutte of rural Beemer, NE
Gerald and Karen Schutte of West Point, NE
Several nieces and nephews also survive Dorothy.

She was preceded in death by her parents-Albert and Rose Ristow, husband-Donald Schutte, brother-LeRoy Ristow, and sisters-in-law-Mildred Schutte and Dorothy L. Schutte.
