Funeral services for Ruth Mandel age 95 of Wisner, NE will be held on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE with Pastor Robert Mayes officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Zion-St. Johns School with interment after at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Dodge, NE. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Ruth passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Wisner Care Center in Wisner, NE.

Ruth Eleanor Mandel was born on December 21, 1923 at rural Dodge, NE to Fred and Clara (Koetter) Mandel. She was baptized on January 21, 1924 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Snyder, NE. Ruth attended Cuming Co. Rural School District #18. In the spring of 1937, the family moved to a farm near Meadow Grove, NE. Ruth was confirmed on July 24, 1938 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Meadow Grove. She attended High School and graduated from Meadow Grove High School in 1941.

In 1941, Ruth moved to the Wisner area and began working for the August Leisy family south of Wisner for 29 years. After moving into Wisner, Ruth worked as a clerk at the Farmers Union Grocery Store for 12 years and later at the Wisner Care Center for 8 years.

Ruth was a member of Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher, and had belonged to the Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Homemakers Hour Extension Club.

She is also survived by cousins and the August Leisy family.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents-Fred and Clara Mandel and a brother-Carl and Carolyn Mandel.
