Obituary for Madeline "Mickey" Vrba
Mass of Christian Burial for Madeline "Mickey" Vrba age 83 of Dodge, NE will be on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE with Fr. An Du Phan as celebrant. Interment will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in West Point, NE following the lunch. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service all at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge, NE is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Mrs. Vrba passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at CHI-Bergan-Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Madeline Ruby (Stoakes) Vrba was born on December 20, 1935 at Albion, NE to Roger and Mabell (Cook) Stoakes. She grew up in the Mead, NE area and later moved to Pilger, NE to live with her sister and attended Pilger High School.
On June 11, 1951, she was united in marriage to George S. Vrba. The family lived in the Beemer area. Mickey worked at the West Point Living Center before working for several years at the Wisner Care Center.
She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mickey enjoyed visiting family and attending family reunions and picnics. She was an avid collector, enjoyed gardening and attending farmers markets, listening to her son’s Kevin and Travis sing, going to McDonald’s with her daughter Kelley , and writing poems.
