Obituary for Tonya Behlers-Breitkreutz

Tonya Behlers-Breitkreutz passed away on February 14, 2019 at her home.

Her health declined after contracting H1N1 in 2010, resulting in pulmonary fibrosis. Per her wishes there will be no services. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is assisting the family.

Tonya Sue was born on August 19, 1952 in West Point, NE to Zelen H. (Joe) and Ella V. (Petersen) Behlers. She attended Cuming Co. Rural School District #39 northeast of Wisner on Highway 51. She graduated with the first class of Wisner-Pilger Jr. Sr. High School in 1970.

She held various jobs as a book keeper, secretary, typist, cashier, and cook in Sioux Falls, SD, Brandon, SD, Omaha, NE, and the Beemer and Wisner area.

On August 12, 1978, she was united in marriage to William R. Breitkreutz by Rev. Emil Ahokas at the United Methodist Church of Christ in Wisner, NE.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Christ, it’s United Church Women, and held various church offices, she was an over 30 year member of the Order of Eastern Star, served 30 years as organizational leader of the Prairie Ramblers 4-H Club, served 29 years as open class poultry superintendent for the Cuming County Fair and was a past president for HIS (Hands in Service).

Tonya is survived by her husband Bill of Wisner, two children-Eric Joe and Alice (Woerner) Breitkreutz of West Point, NE, and Katie Marie and Nicholas Novak of Tekamah, NE. Two grandchildren- William W. Breitkreutz of Tekamah, NE, and Alexandria and husband Austen Eisenhauer of Fort Bragg, NC, and her mother-in-law Anna Mae Breitkreutz of Wisner, NE.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers-Norman and Gary Behlers, and her father in law-Francis T. Breitkreutz.
