Funeral services for Erma Stigge age 93 of West Point, NE will be held on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in West Point, NE with Pastor Richard Bringewatt officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point, NE and will continue on Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at the church.

Erma passed away on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the Montclair Nursing Home in Omaha, NE.

Erma Anna Marie (Bartling) Stigge was born on March 26, 1925 at rural Herman, NE to Adolph and Bertha (Benjes) Bartling. She attended Burt County Rural School and Fontenelle High School for two years before graduating from Fremont High School in 1942. From the age of eleven she started helping family members and neighbors after they had children. Erma had also worked at Schweser’s Department Store.

On June 19, 1955, she was united in marriage to Wilbert C. Stigge at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hooper, NE. The couple moved to West Point, NE until 2006, when they moved to Colonial Courts in Beemer, NE. She has resided in Omaha the last several years.

Erma was a very active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in West Point, its LWML, Ladies Aid, Parents Teachers League at St. Paul School, where she held various offices.

Erma enjoyed sewing, needlework, reading, and putting together genealogy on both sides of the family.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Wilbert on December 29, 2007, and brother-in-law-Ronald Kuss.
