Obituary for Francis W. Bellar

Funeral services for Francis W. Bellar age 91 of Wisner, NE will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church in Beemer, NE with Pastor Lewis Miller officiating. Interment will be in the Beemer Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Francis passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Pender Community Hospital in Pender, NE.

Francis Wayne Bellar was born on June 25, 1926 at O’Neill, NE to John and Jennie (Schweitzer) Bellar. He grew up in the O’Neill area until he was 12, when his father passed away and went to live with his grandparents in Beaver Crossing, NE. Fritz worked in the mines near Leadville, CO before working in the shipyards in Oregon. In 1944, he returned to Broken Bow, NE and worked on the Bates Ranch before working for the State of Nebraska Roads Department. Francis served in the U.S. Army, and while home on leave, was united in marriage to Evelyn Stutzman on November 16, 1947.

In 1948, the couple moved to Wisner, NE, where Fritzworked for Louis Dinklage until 1960. That year they bought a farm north of Wisner and started Bellar Feed Lots. In 1976, they moved into their home they built in Wisner. Fritz was still actively involved in feeding cattle, involved with Liquid Feed Commodities in Fremont, and Blair Ag in Blair.

Francis was a member of the Beemer Mennonite Church and was a member of the Cuming Co. Feeders Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters-Millie Stutzman, Doris Geist, Evelyn Wagenfuehr, Mary Geist, Ruth Sullivan, and brothers-Clayton, Jim, and Floyd Bellar.
