Obituary for Darlene B. Pacas

Darlene B.  Pacas
Funeral services for Darlene B. Pacas age 80 of Stanton, NE will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the Faith Lutheran Church in Stanton, with Pastor Timothy Booth officiating. Interment will be in the Stanton Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Darlene passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, NE.

Darlene Betsy Pacas was born on February 18, 1938 near Plainview, NE to Herbert and Elizabeth (Petersen) Sothan. She attended country school in rural Pierce County. On February 9, 1955, she was united in marriage to Joe Pacas, Jr. in Yankton, SD. They were blessed with two children, Joel and Tammy.

Darlene worked a variety of jobs in her life, including cooking at the Stanton Coffee Shop, caretaker for several elderly in the area, and was an aide at the Stanton Health Center.

Darlene and Joe enjoyed camping, fishing, and hunting together. She enjoyed many hours of quilting, crocheting, gardening, and canning. Her baked goods, especially kolaches, cinnamon rolls and buns were the best around. Darlene enjoyed life.

Darlene is survived by her son Joel and Beverly Pacas of Linwood, NE, daughter Tammy and Delbert Mendlik of Stanton, NE. Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren- Jessica and Noah Brase and Sawyer, Misty Pacas and Trey and Hayden, Jacob Pacas and Sarah Noel, Tyler and Anna Pacas and Braylon and Kendyl, D.J. and Amy Mendlik and Kloe, Kody and Skylar, Tim Mendlik and Shelby Fernau. Step Grandchildren and Step Great Grandchildren-Terry and Heidi Mendlik and Holly, Rhonda and Lonnie Miller and Lakendra, Cassie and Joseph, Yolanda and Tom Clinch and Karlie, Katie and Kylee.

She is also survived by her brother Jim Sothan of Wyoming, and in-laws-Patsy Finkeral of Ankeny, IA, Charles and Marlene Machacek of North Bend, NE, Sandy Sothan of Stanton, NE, Janice Sothan of Lincoln, NE and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, great granddaughter- Seraphina Jo Brase, and siblings, Doug, Carl, Donnie, and Jerry Sothan, Juanita Worland, Caroline Wipperling, and Linda Sothan.
