Funeral services for Dana Meyer age 81 of West Point, NE will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church-County Line, rural Scribner, NE with Vicar Bob Ball officiating. Interment will be in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery-County Line. Visitation will be on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Dana passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.

Dana Lea (Bailey) Meyer was born December 23, 1936 at West Point, NE to Raymond and Mable (Johnson) Bailey. She was baptized and confirmed at the Congregational Church in West Point, NE, where she in the Evangelical United Brethren Choir. Dana was very active while in school, singing in the High School Glee Club, was class treasurer her freshman year, was a cheerleader, and was active in speech. Dana graduated from West Point High School in 1954. She graduated from the Nebraska College of Business in Omaha in 1955. Dana worked for Union Pacific Railroad in Omaha for 2 years. Prior to her marriage, she traveled to California, Mexico, Hoover Dam and Cape Cod.

On June 28, 1959, she was united in marriage to Orville Meyer at the Congregational Church in West Point, NE. The couple lived in West Point, moving to the family farm in 1962. Dana later took Nurses Aid Training, working at the West Point Living Center for 3 years and later did private care at St. Joseph’s Retirement Community, and in West Point and Dodge, NE. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren.

Dana was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-County Line, sang in the church choir, was a member of The Lutheran Christian Women, serving as President, and taught Sunday School. She enjoyed tending to her garden on the farm.

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Orville Meyer on June 12, 2009, brother-Dean Bailey, and sister-Betty Lennemann.
