Mass of Christian Burial for Dale Recker age 77 of Glenwood, IA formerly of West Point, NE will be held on Monday, October 30, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. Military Honors will follow Mass at the church. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in West Point. The family suggests that memorials be directed to Wimmer Cardiac Rehabilitation-West Point, the Special Olympics of Nebraska, or the Glenwood, IA Fire and Rescue.

Dale passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at his home in Glenwood, IA.

Dale John Recker was born on June 9, 1940 in West Point, NE. He was the youngest son of Frank and Antoinette (Wolken) Recker. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Point, NE. In 1958, he graduated from Guardian Angels High School. Following graduation he worked for Skelly’s Gas Station and Drury’s 66 Service. In 1965, Dale and his brother Larry purchased the station and renamed it Midtown 66 Service. They sold it in 1979 and Dale started his career as a car salesman for Paus Motor Sales. He enjoyed meeting the people and convincing them that they needed the car he wanted to sell them. Dale continued in the car business with his son at R&R Auto Sales, Inc. until they sold the business in 2010. He was presently working part time for Advanced Computer Support, Inc., which is owned by his son, Jason.

On August 5, 1967, he married Charlene Medill of Luverne, MN at St. Mary’s Church in West Point, NE. The lived in West Point until moving to Glenwood, IA in 2012. Every Sunday morning Dale loved to listen to the All Star Polka Show out of Columbus, NE. Recently he had become a big fan of the Molly B Polka Show. Other important parts of his life were attending his grandchildren’s activities, being with family, playing cards, talking to people and being a Cornhusker fan.

Dale is survived by his wife of 50 years, Charlene, daughter, Tina, her husband, David Cutshall and their children, Adam, Dana, and Dylan, son, Jason, his wife, Jayme and their children, Richard and Andrew. Dale is also survived by his sisters, Mary Ann Wuestewald, Yvonne Peatrowsky and her husband Jerry, and Sharon Buck, and sister-in-law’s Merna Recker, Toby Day, Sherri Viland, Allyson Ashley, and Linda Zirnhelt and her husband Jim and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Leonard and his wife, Shirley, Clarence and his wife Betty, Larry, Merle and his wife Wilma, sister Cathy Wehenkel and her husband Willy along with brother-in-law’s Augie Wuestewald, Ron Buck, Roland Day, and Jim Viland.
