Obituary for Ethel Ruskamp

Ethel  Ruskamp
Mass of Christian Burial for Ethel Ruskamp age 95 of Columbus, NE will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church-Olean, rural Dodge, NE. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge, NE. Visitation will be on Thursday at the church from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Public Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Minnick Funeral Chapel in Dodge is in charge of the arrangements.

Ethel passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Columbus Community Hospital in Columbus, NE.

Ethel Marion Ruskamp was born on February 23, 1922 at West Point, NE to Joseph and Anna (Dirkschneider) Batenhorst. She attended rural school near Beemer, NE.

On June 12, 1945, she was united in marriage to Lumier Ruskamp at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Beemer, NE. The couple farmed northwest of Dodge, NE. Ethel had worked at the Dodge Café and also for Emil Wagner. In 1986, they moved to Columbus, NE. She helped her daughter Mary Kay at Tender Loving Care Daycare and later worked at The Laundry Line for her daughter and son-in-law Janet and Steve.

Ethel was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus, NE. She enjoyed playing cards, word searches, playing the piano and button accordion. Ethel loved to bake, with rolls and pies being her specialty.
