Funeral services for Franklin E. Johnson age 83 of Neligh, NE formerly of West Point, NE will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, NE with Military Honors to be conducted at the church. Interment will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be on Friday from noon until the time of the service at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is handling the arrangements for the family.

Franklin passed away on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Neligh Care and Rehabilitation Center in Neligh, NE.

Franklin Emerson Johnson was born on September 24, 1933 in Monowi, NE to Emerson and Amelia (Buettner) Johnson. He grew up in the Lynch, NE area and graduated from Lynch High School in 1951. Franklin served in the U.S. Air Force from 1953-1957 during the Korean Conflict.

On June 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Marian Piercy at Missouri Valley, IA. Frank was a tile carpenter for a few years and later managed the Movie Theatre. The family moved to West Point, where Frank worked at Wimmers Meat Products and also managed the Movie Theatre. The couple moved to Norfolk, where Frank worked for Nebraska Public Power District. After retiring, they moved to Neligh, NE and operated the Drive-In Theatre.

Frank was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in West Point, and a former member of the West Point Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed fishing, watch Husker football, helping others by doing odd jobs, and working at the Drive-In Theatres. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and his pets.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents, a brother in infancy, and siblings-Milton and Betty Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Donald and Ardith Johnson, Joyce Crosley, Darlene and Jim Eaton, and Alyene and Rossy Crosley.
