Funeral services for Mr. Gayle Giese age 71 of Wisner, NE will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.

Gayle passed away on Friday, December 23, 2016 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.

Gayle Clarence Giese was born on October 26, 1945 at West Point, NE to Elder and Alma (Koepke) Giese. He was baptized on February 3, 1946 and later confirmed on March 30, 1958 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. Gayle attended District #5 Frog Pond School in Wayne County and later graduated from Wisner High School in 1964. He received a football scholarship to play at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, SD, and played for one year until injuring his knee. Gayle served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1969 as an airplane mechanic and was stationed overseas in Okinawa, Japan. Upon his honorable discharge from serving his country, he worked as a farmhand.

On May 10, 1975, he was united in marriage to Kathy Moeller at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Wisner, NE. The couple lived and farmed south of Wisner, before moving to a farm north of Beemer. Gayle had also worked for Stan Ortmeier Co. while living north of Beemer. The couple moved to their present farm south of Wisner and in 1989, Gayle began working for Stalp Ready-Mix and was currently employed with Gerhold Concrete along with farming. For the last 12 years, they have also owned Coachman’s Steakhouse and Wisner Lanes.

Gayle was a member of Zion-St. John Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, watching sports, attending high school basketball games, and loved to play golf. He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Daughter- Jenny and husband Todd Wuestewald of West Point, NE
Daughter-Krista Giese and significant other Corey Smith of Norfolk, NE
Son- Michael and wife Jacque Giese of Beemer, NE
Grandchildren- Alexis and Ryan Wuestewald
Sister- Beverly Hubschmitt of Wisner, NE
Sister-in-law-Mitzi Giese of Scribner, NE
He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Gayle was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother-Gary.
