Obituary for Orven Lueshen

Orven  Lueshen
Funeral services for Orven Lueshen age 86 of West Point, NE will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Interment will be in the St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wisner, NE following the luncheon. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner and will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Orven passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE.

Orven Adolph Lueshen was born on July 18, 1930 at rural, Wisner, NE to Adolph and Anna (Tietjen) Lueshen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Orven attended St. Matthew’s Parochial School. He began farming with his father at an early age. Orven served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Korean Conflict Medal, United Nations Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal.

On January 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Kroeger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beemer, NE. Orven lived on the home place until October of 2015, where he farmed, fed cattle and also raised hogs.

On October 20, 1991, he married Mary Ludwig at Zion-St. John Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Orven was a very active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church prior to its closing, where he served as the treasurer for many years. When the church decided to close its doors, Orven was instrumental in it being relocated to the Cuming County Fairgrounds. Orven was currently a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE.

Orven enjoyed attending the Burwell Rodeo and livestock auctions. He was a good neighbor, always willing to drop everything to assist when needed.

Orven was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother-Hazel, wife-Lorraine, and sister Alice Schlueter.
