Obituary for Wayne W Ebel

Funeral services for Wayne W. Ebel age 85 of Wisner, NE will be held on Monday, July 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Wisner, NE. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. There will be a public Vigil Service on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.

Wayne Warren Ebel was born to Frank and Blanche (Faubel) Ebel, November 22, 1928, at the Ebel farm south of Wisner. He attended the Congregational Church in Wisner joining St, Josephs Catholic Church in 1950. He attended Dist #44 for grade school and Wisner High School, active in FFA.Wayne married Eleanor Marksmeier, June 15, 1950, at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Wisner, Ne. To this marriage they raised four children, Diane, David, Marian, and Ken.
Farming was his life, he enjoyed working with his uncles and his brother Boyd, he hired out to many places, harvesting crops, plowing with his Ford tractor, and feeding cattle as a hired hand for Herman Dinklage Sr. and Ed Luther. He started farming on his own in 1946 with his dad. Had a dairy for 25 plus years, raised hogs farrow to finish and fed cattle besides raising crops of corn, soybeans, and alfalfa. He was a Leader for the Goldenrod 4-H Club, many years. He farmed 50 plus years starting out with two row equipment up to eight row on the farms of Ferg McGuire, Laase farm and the family farm. Wayne and Eleanor put in many hours building their home in Wisner in 1980 moving in January of 1985. Wayne and Eleanor celebrated their 50th anniversary at the Wisner Auditorium in 2000. Wayne's wife, Eleanor passed away in 2004. Wayne enjoyed visiting , making a trail of friends every where he went and reminiscing old stories from the past, his memory was right on, he helped his daughter with many stories for her genealogy. Wayne loved playing all types of card games, especially solitaire, and bingo.

Son-Ken Ebel(Deceased) and wife Traci (Roth) Ebel of Wisner
Daughter Abbi Ebel of Wisner

Sister-Norene Kuhr of Creston
Several nieces and nephews also survive him.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor (Marksmeier) Ebel in 2004, son Ken Ebel in 2011, parents Frank and Blanche (Faubel) Ebel, brother Boyd Ebel during WWII, sister Marcie (Ebel) Kort, in-laws Alvin Kort, Dennis Kuhr, John and Betty Marksmeier, Ray and Elaine Marksmeier, Leo Marksmeier, Harold and Ethel (Marksmeier) Thunker, and his parents in-law Joe and Theresa Marksmeier.
