Funeral services for Vergie Erb age 94 of Beemer, NE will be Monday, August 9, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at the Beemer Mennonite Church in Beemer, NE. Interment will be in the Beemer Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. and will continue on Monday from 9 a.m. till service time at the church. Kuzelka-Minnick Funeral Home in Beemer is in charge of arrangements. Vergie passed away on Thursday, August 5, 2010 at the Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE.

Vergie Arevila Erb was born April 3, 1916 at Manson, IA to Arthur and Eva (Morgan) Zehr. She was baptized at the Mennonite Church in Manson, IA. Vergie attended country school and Manson High School, graduating in 1934. On November 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Wilford Erb at the Manson Mennonite Church in Manson, IA. They resided in Beemer, where they farmed until 1947. The couple moved to Detroit Lakes, MN, where their two boys were born. In the 1960’s the family lived in Iowa and Nebraska. In 1973, they retired and moved to Sidney, NE, where they were house parents of a children’s home. The couple later moved to Sterling, CO. After the death of her husband (Wilford) and son (Oran), Virgie made her home in Beemer, NE in 1999. Vergie’s last move would be to Colonial Haven Nursing Home in Beemer, NE in October of 2007. She was a member of the Beemer Mennonite Church.

Survivors include-
Son- Clayton and wife Bonita Erb of West Point, NE
Daughter-in-law- Pam Erb of Sterling, CO
7 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren also survive her.

Vergie was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Wilford, infant son- Dallas, son-Oran, one brother-Don Zehr, and two sisters-Margaret Schantz and Illiah Gingerich.
