Graveside services for Yvonne Lemke age 98 of Blair, NE will be on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Wisner Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior service at the Minnick Funeral Home in Wisner, NE.

Yvonne passed away on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, NE.

Yvonne Dewbelle (LaNoue) Lemke was born on December 13, 1919 at Schuyler, NE to Edmere and Bertha (Flick) LaNoue. She attended grade school and high school in Pilger and Wisner, NE and graduated in 1937 from Gunnison High School in Gunnison, CO.

During WWII, she was a “rosie the riveter”, working in the hydraulics shop on aircraft that were manufactured and overhauled at the Martin Aircraft Company (the “bomber plant”) in Bellevue, NE. A highlight was working on the “Silver Plate” B-29 aircraft that would eventually carry atomic bombs.

After the war, she met and married Charles Stevens, her son Kenneth’s father. Charles had 5 children by a previous marriage but none of them lived with him. Shortly after Kenneth’s birth, Charles passed away. She was a single mom through most of the 1950’s. In the late 50’s, her parents went to work for a recently widowed farmer, Clarence Lemke. Yvonne and Clarence ultimately married in 1959 and she and Kenneth moved to a farm near Wisner, NE. Yvonne was a farm wife until 1967, when they relocated to Emerson, NE for a short period before buying a bar/restaurant in Wakefield, NE. She and Clarence ran “The Lounge” until retiring in the early 1990’s.

Yvonne enjoyed working with the ladies aid group at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wakefield and hosted periodic bible study at her home. She enjoyed embroidery until her eyesight began to fail, and never missed any of “her soaps”. She was and annual figure at church from Thanksgiving to Christmas enthusiastically manning the Christmas Card table.

Yvonne lived on her own until 2013, when she moved first to Autumn Pointe Assisted Living in Fort Calhoun, NE then to the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, where she resided until her death.

Survivors include-
Son-Kenneth Lemke of Blair, NE
2 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter
Sister- Theresa Alberty of Arizona.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents, husbands-Charles Stevens and Clarence Lemke, daughter in infancy-Marianne Lemke, sisters-Genevieve Dow, Charlotte Henemann, Gloria Wiedner, and Betty LaNoue, and her brother-Clyde LaNoue.
