She married Henry Carl Poppe Jr. on August 8, 1943 in West Point, Nebraska. On that day she was also baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

She was an avid sports fan and attended hundreds of her children’s and grandchildren’s games. She loved dogs, playing cards, watching soap operas, and listening to country music. She adored her family and treasured her time with friends, especially her time at the West Point Senior Center. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in West Point, and upon her retirement, an active member of the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Cuming County Historical Society. She moved to the Autumn Pointe Assisted Living Center in Ft. Calhoun in September of 2017, where she passed away in her sleep on October 22.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, her husband Henry, and daughter in law Damaris.

She is survived by her children Gerald (Jan) Poppe of Wayne; Lynn (Maxine) Poppe of Omaha; Clint (Barb) Poppe of Lincoln; and Robin (Troy) Kister of Omaha; 10 grandchildren, DeEtte (Gary) Moore, Jason (Robyn) Poppe; Tami (Darren) Cobb, Dawn (Chris) Weindel, Christopher Poppe; Adam Poppe, John (Shawna) Poppe, Clint Poppe Jr.; Shea Kister, Riley Kister; and 15 great grandchildren.
