Obituary for Frank Rief

Mass of Christian Burial for Frank Rief age 74 of West Point, NE will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, with Fr. Steve Emanuel celebrating the mass. Interment with Military Honors will be in the St. Michael's Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from noon to 4:30 p.m. at the funeral home and will continue from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the church. There will be a Vigil Service with a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is handling the arrangements for the family.

Frank passed away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at St. Francis Memorial Hospital in West Point, NE.

Frank Rief was born on February 26, 1944 at West Point, NE to Joseph and Sophie (Prawitz) Rief. He attended Guardian Angels School and graduated from Guardian Angels High School in 1962. Frank served in the United States Air Force from September 18, 1962 to September 16, 1966 after being honorably discharged. Frank studied automotive repair at Milford, NE. He worked at Sawtell Motors in Fremont and Bliemeister Auto Repair in West Point, NE.

On June 27, 1970, he was united in marriage to Bonnie Stratmann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Frank worked for over 30 years at IBP in West Point before retiring.

Frank was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 3rd Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council #2272. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, gardening, and reading. He especially loved attending all of his children’s and grandchildren’s activities.

Daughter- Jodi and Dave Disher of West Point, NE and children-
Devin, Sheldon and Aaron
Son- Roger and Jenny Rief of West Point, NE and children-
Bradee and fiancé Travis Schiefelbein, Bryant, Brendan and Brenna

Eileen and Duane Johnson of Fremont, NE
Ed and Jane Rief of Axtell, NE
Dan and Millie Rief of Columbus, NE
Georgia Maze of Fallon, NV
He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Frank was preceded in death by his parents-Joe and Sophie Rief, sister- Mary and husband Howard Huelsman, and a brother-in-law-Chuck Maze.
