Mass of Christian Burial for Sheila Sahlstrom age 65 of Lyons, NE will be held on Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lyons, NE with Fr. Paul Ortmeier as celebrant. Interment will be in the Lyons Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a public vigil service at 7:00 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service, both at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lyons. Minnick Funeral Home in West Point is handling the arrangements for the family.

Sheila passed away on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at her home surrounded by family.

Sheila Marie Sahlstrom was born on December 21, 1952 at West Point, NE to George and Madeline (Stoakes) Vrba. She graduated from Beemer High School in 1972. On November 1, 1972, she was united in marriage to Dennis Sahlstrom at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, NE.

Sheila worked at the Logan Valley Manor in the kitchen, and she and Dennis operated a Pizza Bus for over 10 years. Sheila always looked forward to selling sweetcorn and firewood. She volunteered for over 40 years at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Lyons, helping with First Communion, Religious Education and also helped create many church floats for parades. She volunteered as a gymnastic coach and helped with cheerleading for many years.

Sheila and Dennis loved to travel, going to Sturgis several times and going to see famous Elvis Impersonators and spending time with their fellow Elvis fans. She sang back up for her brother Kevin and of course it was Elvis music.

Sheila was preceded in death by her father-George Vrba, parents-in-law-Arthur and Evelyn Sahlstrom, brother-in-law-Don Rankin, niece-Michelle Rankin, and nephew-Jason Rankin.
