Funeral services for Verona Koehlmoos age 96 of Pilger, NE will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Interment will be in the Pilger Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Wisner Care Center-Chapel and will continue from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pilger, NE. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. The family suggests that memorials be directed to the Lutheran Hour Ministries.

Verona passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Wisner Care Center.

Verona Koehlmoos was born on December 4, 1920 at rural Wisner, NE to Ernest and Louise (Matthes) Kumm. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, rural Wisner, NE. Verona attended Cuming County Rural School District #70 and St. Matthew’s Parochial School.

On February 20, 1938, she was united in marriage to Fred Koehlmoos at his family’s farm house. Fred and Verona lived on that same farm their entire married life and she remained there until 2005, when she moved to the Wisner Care Center.

Verona was a member of Ladies Aid and LWML of Trinity Lutheran Church, Altona until 1972, and was currently a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pilger and held offices in the Ladies Aid and LWML. She was chairperson of the Hospital Guild for St. John’s Church, also was instrumental in starting the Pilger Senior Center, where she served on the board for nine years.

She enjoyed quilting, sewing, bowling, flower gardening, baking, singing in the church choir, playing cards, going to church and LWML functions and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Daughter- Mardelle and husband Jim Kropp of Payette, ID and family
Renae and husband Shawn Evins and children-Savanah & Waylon
Brian and wife Amy Kropp and children-Abbie, Brandon & Brittany
Daughter-in-law- Barb and husband Carl Greunke of Fremont, NE and family

Verona was preceded in death by her parents, husband-Fred Koehlmoos, son-Ken Koehlmoos, grandsons-Randy Koehlmoos, Andrew Wemhoff, son-in-law-Ron Wemhoff, brothers- Raymond Kumm, Ivan Kumm, and a sister- Jeanette Gemelke.
